i survived 57 storeys!

my lucky ah ma got invited by her classmate to a night's stay at mbs, so me and aunt tagged along. the view from the 6th floor wasn't very nice, but the room was. not exactly very spacious, but nicely furnished. i like the toilet! so big and nice and got bathtub! lols. got a lot of people so not convenient to take photo. wasted! lol.

gobbled down a hurried bento/sushi dinner and headed up skypark with 30 mins to spare (they close at 10pm). the lift went so fast lor. tsk tsk.

there was this long swimming pool against the edge with lounge chairs and mini jacuzzis around. but i was more interested in the night view. pathetic attempt at panorama:

we were still at the building part, so it wasn't that scary. but when we walked further down to the front of the 'ship', i started panicking cos i knew this part jutted out from the building and there was nothing underneath! and the wooden floorboards seemed to shake when the people walked around. 恐怖!

but undeniably, the view was wonderful. i wish i wasn't acrophobic so i could go right to the edge and take pretty photos. i mainly kept at least a metre away from the edge last night. :(

photos seemed pretty blur cos i used a lot of zoom and i think my legs were shaking. =| overall a not too bad experience, but no way i'm going up there again. boo.

life's simple pleasures

met up with zhu and cher yesterday for a short girls' night out. it's been like, 7 months since i last saw them? we always say must meet up more often, but also always never meet one. boo.

gathered at chinatown and for once, all of us arrived within 5 minutes of one another! so 難得. lols. then made our way down chinatown complex for dinner. i think it's one of those rare moments that we actually dine at hawker centres when we meet up. and whether it was because i was super hungry or cos of the company, my 生面 actually tasted pretty delicious.

it was little too hot and stuffy though. =\

had a great time listening to cher about her 'adventures' in the states (damn i should have joined her), and similarly enlightening about her views on relationships. (muacks SSD!)

on our way out, we saw fireworks from YOG opening! i didn't realize it was so near. lol. also passed by the food street, where there were so many deliciously lovely smells that it's making hungry now just by thinking about it. sambal stingray...sambal kangkong...fried sotong...*drools*

we finally arrived at the screening room. headed straight to the pub area at the rooftop, but it was packed. didn't quite fancy paying $20 for a movie ticket at the theatre, so we went downstairs to the malt vault instead. lovely ambience...when it's empty.

since this room only has scotch whisky, i couldn't have my long island. so i tried something else; something called 'the godfather'. according to the owner, it's actually the most potent on the list of whisky cocktails and he even advised us to think twice about it. which was what made me switch.

indeed, it smelt pretty potent on first whiff, but in actual fact, not really as strong as chivas on the rocks i used to take. there's also a faint taste of almonds, which i kinda like. :) zhu and cher had something fruit-ier - one sweet citrus and one tangy citrus. but both only had a mild alcohol taste and i prefer otherwise.

spent a good lot of time camwhoring, but since majority of the photos are with cher and i'm too impatient to wait, i only have 2 ugly ones of myself. with major eyebag disaster. *desperately needs eye mask*

lalala. had so much fun laughing and going crazy with them. we probably looked like 3 mad 'dwang' siao char bors. :D as the place was kinda small, we soon had another group join our table. i don't know about both of them, but i didn't quite like it. i didn't know it was the usual practice to share tables! tsk. so we left asap and headed up the rooftop to take somemore photos. lols.

after leaving the place, we wandered around chinatown somemore and came back to the food street, where we settled down for 'supper'.

so not me. lols. then home sweet home. i actually caught the bus back instead of taking cab! wow! =|

it's monday. again. sighhhh.

45 years and counting...

so. SSD has gotten his iphone 4. finally. i think he's a little 走火入魔 already. my take on it?

pros of getting iphone 4
huge variety of games available and the ease of finding/downloading/installing them. surf the net easier. (but i don't go online that often on the go so it's not really a big issue.)

pros of keeping satio baby
12mp camera as opposed to 5mp. (pretty photos posted on blog significantly increased with satio.) a nice, sleek black interface that's easier to use (for me). a pretty shade of maroon. (with no cover!) and i don't really like to see too many people holding the same phone as me. (bad habit i know.)

hmmm. i can only recontract in end october so within these 2 months, someone please convince me that i should (1) fork out an extra few hundred dollars for the iphone (when i've gotten satio baby for a whopping $700+ last year), (2) upgrade to a more expensive monthly plan, (3) give up the unique-ness and join the oh-so-common iphone trend, and MOST importantly, (4) downgrade to a 5mp camera, ALL simply for the sake of more games to play. reminder: the 4-month wait last year for satio was for the 12mp camera. tsk.

bah!

... ...

alright, national day post! public holidays are never enough. lols. went to SSD's place and after an early dinner with his family, we headed off to marina. we had this ticketed entry (courtesy of his mum) to the open area beside ntuc building which had a splendid view of the fireworks.

our goodie bags had plastic sheets so we settled down on them and 'enjoyed' the NDP live on the big screen. initially i thought there would be seats, but come to think of it, i kinda enjoyed it better on the ground. much more comfortable. :P

not the best but i doubt iphone can produce these.

didn't really get to see majority of the show as the marching contingent marched past behind us and the attention was diverted. in the later part of the evening, we played with sparklers! so fun! it was also such a pretty sight with everyone holding their sparks up high. but too bad i couldn't get the right angle to capture the beauty. lol. and then the usual pledge-taking and national anthem.

our purpose for the entire outing was, of course, the grand finale fireworks. satio baby is horrible at fireworks, that i admit. so this time, i resorted to video-taking. unfortunately, quality still isn't very good. too bright. hmmmm.

oh wells. lalala.
