Sorry for the gloomy title. I used to think about the future. But as I grow older (or as I see more and more deaths nowadays), I would like to start living less for the future and more in the present. I don't want to die with (too many) regrets. Things that I should have or could have done.
So I'm creating a bucket list! It's gonna be harder to fulfil them I guess, since time and money no longer belongs to me alone ('perks' of getting married). But at least I'll have a goal. Or goals. Not sure if this will work out either......*sigh*
Quit this job (gonna happen soon)
Learn Korean
Visit Korea / Ireland / Santorini
Learn Muay Thai (again)
Start a dog cafe (probably never gonna happen but just putting this here in case anyone has spare cash)
Complete all 3 levels of Reiki and Animal Communication
Lose weight (who am I kidding!)
Do lasik (0_0)
And most importantly, love myself more! XD
At the end of the day, I guess I'm just trying to be happy. (Sounds familiar? Hehe.) "Learning to love yourself, it is the greatest love of all."
Today's post is actually to share the two korean dramas I'm recently watching.
Who Are You (16 episodes)
Storyline: Female detective Yang Si Ohn (YSO) wakes up after an accident on the job left her in a coma for 6 years. Momentarily losing her memory, she also realizes she has gained the ability to see ghosts. They ask for help, she helps them. Until she sees her boyfriend's ghost. Her memories slowly come back, and she realizes there's more to the accident back then, where the boyfriend was shot and she herself knocked into a coma. After that the story revolves around YSO trying to find out what exactly happened, with the help of her subordinate Cha Gun Woo (CGW), who happens to also fall in love with her.
Complicated storyline. What made it better, was eye candy! Lol. It just finished airing a couple of days ago, and the ending was weird. Apparently, while CGW was injured into a coma saving her, he also gained the ability to communicate with ghosts. Just that they appear in his dreams instead. I was...a tiny bit disappointed I guess.
I read some comments that there was a similar drama which was much much better than this. I was thinking, "this is so good already. How can there be one better?" And since I didn't have anything to do, I gave it a shot.
The Master's Sun (16 episodes, might increase)
Storyline: Tae Yang (TY) has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts ever since her accident which left her in a coma for several years. They appear randomly and scare her, sometimes asking her for help. As a result, TY has been unable to sleep well nor hold a job for long. Until she meets CEO Joo Joong Won (JJW). She realizes that whenever he touches her, the ghosts disappear. She then tries to hold on to her 'safety shelter'.
JJW keeps TY nearby as he hopes she can communicate with his dead ex and find out where she kept the ransom. (He was involved in a kidnapping and the ex was one of the kidnappers.) Slowly he falls in love with TY.
I'm at episode 12 now, where he got stabbed when trying to save her, and appears to her in the form of a non-human. I'm really hoping he's not dead. *cross fingers* (Why do they do that anyway? Isn't it easier and safer to just push the attacker away?)
This drama doesn't really have eye candy, but it's true. It IS better than Who Are You. For one, the ghosts are scarier. I totally got a shock the first time. It's also more interesting since there's a different 'story' with each ghost, while still revolving around the two main leads. And that love story is to-die-for! Why does it only happen in dramas? :(
Oh wells. Can't wait for the next episode. Do check them out if you have the time. ^^
popo loves her raw meat. and i like seeing how excited she is for it. unfortunately, no one else shares the same sentiments. time and time again my mum tells me i should cook the meat because "got a lot of bacteria", and my dad complains "为什么养狗养到这么辛苦".
so many times i feel like giving up and telling them they can do whatever they want. thankfully i always stop myself in time. popo is MY baby. i don't know why but i feel very strongly for her, more than bobby or any other pet i've owned or even anyone else. to be honest, i don't trust anybody else to take care of her. heck, sometimes i don't trust myself either. whatever i do, i make sure to read up first.
i enjoy shopping for her meat, even more so now that i'm starting to try different stuff (although i don't like paying for it). every morning i have to remember to take down her meat to thaw. sometimes i feed her dinner if i'm home early (tried asking them not to feed and they got pissed off). i have to mix ACV in her food. sometimes i hand feed her. then clean her up. if the weather is good i take her down for exercise and training. every night i clean her ears and teeth and tear stains (which equates to war actually). every 2 days i brush her. every week i bathe and dry her. and attempt to cut her nails (war again). i keep a diary of what she eats every day and her poo status. i train her (and they take the credit).
yes they do help. my mum feeds (and complains about raw) her sometimes, and cuts her paw hairs. my dad takes her down sometimes (not to exercise, just to poo. but doesn't understand why i have to monitor her poo).
i can't fathom how is that 辛苦. i'm the one doing the reading, the buying, the planning, the executing, and the worrying. all these in an attempt for popo to be happier and healthier. don't you want the same for your family? of cos i don't expect them to care, seeing how they don't even care about the health and nutrition of their own family, much less a dog. but i really don't think they have the right to comment on what i'm doing when they don't even bother to find out WHY i'm doing it.
they don't even listen! just the other day, i came back late to see popo's treat container almost empty. that was despite me telling them too much of this treat can cause diarrhea. and yes, she had LS for the next 2 days. and yes, raw food got the blame. how do you expect me to trust them with popo?
养狗 is not 辛苦. it's fighting alone against everyone else that is fucking 辛苦.
anyway, on a lighter note, popo seems to be doing well on chicken already, so i bought pork. gonna freeze it for 2 weeks and after her operation next week, i'll try mixing some in. her ears seem to be less irritated too. i really hope her detox is finishing soon. teeth still sucks. lol. but i admit that is my fault. i don't dare to feed bigger bones for her to chew on, nor am i firm enough to fully maximize the teeth-cleaning product. sigh. oh but her fur is so soft and smooth! i can't stop running my hands down her back lol.
can't wait for bto to finish. just popo and me. and SSD, as long as he doesn't interfere with how i take care of her. :P
for the past month (or past several months), there has been only one thing on my mind, my job hunt. it's been especially miserable last month being stuck at home. i've been to many interviews; rejected some, and got rejected by some (no news means rejected right?). it's utterly disapponting and demoralizing. sometimes i get so stressed i'll curl up and cry at night. (embarrassing but yes i cry when i'm stressed.)
and i'll like to take this opportunity to brag how i completed my degree in just 8 months. *sarcasm* seriously do you really think i'll spend $18k on a degree for an industry where qualifications are not very important? no dumbass, i paid for the internship. so thank you MDIS, for graduating me without one.
this has been pissing me off for a very long time already. the modules i have taken are mostly useless beyond words (can't blame prospective employers for thinking that way cos i myself think so too) and without the internship (which i have fucking paid for), all that i'm left with is a useless piece of shit paper that won't get me anywhere. sigh. i don't regret quitting RT or taking time off to study, but i do really really regret wasting my time and money on MDIS/SCU. (only thing good is getting to know the gals.)
sigh. words can't express how desperate i am for good news. any type of good news. and yet there are inconsiderate people making insensitive remarks. like SSD. sheesh. luckily i have zhu and wan ting to encourage me back. argh.
anyway, if you really did read that chunk of rant up there, thank you. i feel slightly better now.
... ...
to make the hole in my pocket bigger, i decomm-ed my tank the other day and had it set up again last night. bought some new stuff, including a very expensive (and small) bottle of water stabilizer.
very dark and horrible instagram pic here. i still need to replace that light. sooooo, here's $60 gone without even a single fish or shrimp in the tank. p/s. bought too much taiwan moss; i now have 3/4 tub left. anyone wants them for free? =\
some of you have seen this on instagram (@mmeeshell).
and some of you have seen this on facebook.
yep. SSD proposed. =)
... ...
so, it started off with dinner after my riding lesson. he told me it was to 賞月, but he had unwittingly revealed that i might not be going home that night. so i was kinda expecting more than 賞月 lol. (that's why i say he isn't very good at planning surprises.)
manhattans! nothing special, but i brought wall-e out so i had nicer photos so i have to haolian. rofl.
then walked over to clarke quay. they had the lantern festival thingy, which resulted in loads of people. which made me kinda hot and bothered. =\ they also have the zodiac thingy, which confirm not true, because mine said i will get promotion etc etc. tsk. there were also food stalls, which made me regret having dinner. i really should have bought the bbq sotong no matter how full i was. X_X
and we continued walking all the way to riverview hotel. -_- i did guess we were going there, although i also hoped the destination was somewhere nearer along the way so i didn't have to walk so far. (trotting was even more strenuous than last week!)
i suppose i was a little surprised to learn that he had already checked in. lols. and upon reaching the room, my main concern was actually the couch to rest my poor legs lol. and then he showed me this.
and told me to open the curtains. for a moment i actually thought he was trying to scare me lmao. then.
super touched. i suppose i did choke a little. lols. touched not because he proposed (kinda guessed it when i saw the bed of flowers) but how he did it. i never thought he'll be ingenious enough to use lightsticks. so pretty! XD
then i realized he had brought all most of the necessities for us to stay the night. and the efforts he had put into everything. it touched me more than the proposal itself. 謝謝你! =)
guess the next thing he did? update status on facebook. #facepalm. which resulted in both our phones ringing everytime someone likes or comments on the status. -_- and which also made me feel super duper touched and loved to see the many many well wishes from my friends. #usuallyforeveralone. especially wan ting! she's like more excited than me hahahahaha. 謝謝你們!!
anyway, i kept telling SSD that if he had told me earlier, i could have brought more stuff to make our staycation even more comfortable. it was, after all, a suite! SSD had used his special connections to get the room for less than $200!
which came with free breakfast. i love hotel breakfasts! not much of a variety though. XD
then ran some errands before heading home to zonk out. here's the bling if you missed it.
just to share this youtube video i came across on another blog. do take time to finish the whole thing.
i'm glad someone actually made the effort to produce such a video, albeit how sad it may be. this is just one case. i wonder how many unreported cases like this there are in singapore. please spread this.
from the video, 84% of our population live in public housing. deducting those in hospitals, homes, hostels etc, i bet less than 10% lives in landed or condos. out of this 10%, how many are actually willing to take in strays? how many can one actually take in? it doesn't take a genius to realize that there are far more strays in singapore than the <10% of 'rich' people who may or may not be willing to adopt. nor does it require a lot of common sense to see that public housing can be bigger and more suitable for strays.
why not open the chances to those living in public housing? HDB, please wake up. you are not only denying people living in public housing the chance to help a stray animal, but denying these animals a chance to LIVE. 10,000 - 15,000 strays are put down every year in singapore, because supply far exceeds demand. (that's an average of 35 strays euthanized EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.)
let's put it this way. HDB, YOU HAVE SO MUCH BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS! whoever made up this fucking rule, how can you live like this? i hope they all haunt you. really.
and to the neighbor who kept complaining about idoh, please, do burn in hell. =)
definitely. i always find it hard to explain why i choose to be a pescetarian. the most common guesses are usually religion or health related. my reason, however, is much more complicated. so complex it is that i have given up trying to explain anymore cos nobody understands. lol. i wish i could somehow move on to vegetarianism, but i don't think it's quite possible yet. no salmon? kill me.
sometimes i pity SSD. you see, he's an omnivore. and when we choose dining places, the first thing to look out for, would be whether if there's anything i can eat. which is why we usually stick to those same old places. like manhattan's FISH market. definitely something for me!
manhattan flaming seafood platter - everything is so so yummy! ok maybe except the oysters. (those are oysters, not mussels! lucky i didn't spit them out. lol.) it looks very little but we had trouble finishing the fries. definitely dropping by again when i feel thin and rich. =\
and instagram updates!
and lastly, yes i did it. finally. that moment when i stepped out of the room, it felt as if a huge load had been taken off me. but then reality sank in and i realized that frankly speaking, no backup plan is a horrible choice. i guess it's heart over mind this time. wish me luck! loads of it.
it's been a horrific emotional roller coaster ride this past 2 weeks and i've never felt so depressed, demoralized, disappointed, angry, upset, helpless and whatnot in my life. but since i've resigned to the fact that i can't seem to do anything already, let's talk about happy stuff.
one, dinner with ex uni-mates at kazokutei. omurice is nice! =)
love the dear john gossip session! and shall i say this again? it's the only group where i'm the oldest. that sucks. *insert collagen joke* =(
two, dinner with the gals at coco ichibanya. so glad i ate a tiny lunch so i could savor all the curry rice! my cream mushroom omelet was super delish and i'm kinda drooling now just thinking about it. lols.
but the bestest of all, thanks for making me feel mad 感動. 12 years of friendship and you see things that i don't even realize was happening to me. the scariestweirdest craziest part is, that was EXACTLY how i was feeling. kinda disappointed that i'm so weak-willed, but at least i'll have two shoulders to cry on, right? ^^
also feeling uber sad that i didn't manage to tender successfully, and this is my second attempt already! hate myself for being so soft-hearted. hoping for good news next week, or i'll just rot at home and become more useless than i already am. tsk. =(
it was already typed, dated, printed, folded, and all ready to be submitted. but yet i didn't hand it in. had conversations with SSD and my parents and some of my friends. they had supported my decision because they want me to be happy. and i'm thankful for that.
i dread every weekday morning. i see no future here. and i don't fancy doing boring repetitive useless stuff.
but yet i cannot bring myself to 'leave boss in the lurch'. i cannot bring myself to quit without a backup plan. i cannot bring myself to feel as useless as sitting around at home (unless i'm rightfully a housewife ahem) waiting for a job to drop by. i cannot not feel bad about not giving my parents monthly allowance. i cannot not worry about the future if i really cannot find a job i'm interested in. i cannot help feeling incompetent and i super duper hate this feeling! >_<
told boss about my intention and apparently, he thinks i'm good enough to allow me to take half a year's leave to settle whatever problem i have and then come back to work for him. but that's bullshit. if they can survive half a year without me, they can survive without me. nevertheless, i seem to have gotten myself stuck in a neither-here-nor-there situation i don't know how to get out of.
since 2011 farewells and 2012 resolutions have started to appear everywhere, i thought i'll do mine too. even though i should be editing my report now. lol.
so, 2011 has come to an end. spent the first half complaining about work, and the second half complaining about school. lol. if you didn't know, i quit my job in june/july and took up a part-time degree, and time just flew by! i'm gonna potentially graduate in feb, and then it's gonna be back to work money-making! lol.
2011 was pretty quiet i guess. apart from the trip to taiwan in october where i had fun with wall-e SSD, probably nothing interesting or worth mentioning liao. sobs.
now after reminiscing about the past, it's time for resolutions again!
here's mine for last year:
1. lose even more weight (for the 4th year!) never lose leh. :( but at least never gain also. lol.
2. get out of comfort zone and find a job which i enjoy don't mind doing. er...so far not yet.
3. stop procrastinating on that diving course (and many other courses for that matter). er...studying considered?
4. make SSD bring me on a further-than-genting trip. yes! taiwan! :)
5. be a vegetarian as much as possible. nope. only managed a pescetarian. except taiwan trip. boo.
this year:
1. attempt to lose weight (or at least maintain), into 5th year now!
2. find a job i like/want/would enjoy, and survive it!
3. to visit genting's strawberry/mushroom/bee/fruit farm (that's the farthest i've planned for this year).
4. reduce expectations of others and try not to get pissed off so often. 忍忍忍!
5. catch up with friends? lol.
not very far-fetched right? ah wells. how are you gonna spend your last day of 2011? i'm gonna spend it with...my lays salt and vinegar chips.
i happened to see (this morning at 2am!) that i have a lot of nail stickers somehow, therefore i decided to do a simple manicure with them. it turned out surprisingly sweet and girly (so not me), so i thought i'd haolian them. LOL.
i know the dots are like, super flawed. i seriously need to get a dotter. but i really like how it appears. it looks better in real life. lol. so tempted to get diamante to bling up my nails this CNY. and also to match my bling bling dress. :D
i keep reminding myself that the degree is for career change and not career advancement, but the starting salary is certainly demoralizing. can i pull through or can i pull through? hais. :(
lol drafted this wayy back last year on 30/11/11, but chose to post this only now because i totally had (and still have) NO confidence in the school's professionalism. i think they will 以小人之心度君子之腹 and 假公濟私 and 公報私仇 and don't let me graduate.
so why post now, since i have graduated already? because potential students have the right to know what they're getting into. (disclaimer: everything here is what i have personally experienced. i did NOT make them up.)
incident one
so one day i tweeted about how my school's dress code rules were inconveniencing me. mainly because i go from home and it's lame to dress up just for that 2-3 hours. and the next afternoon, i received a call from the student services or whatever, requesting me to remove MY tweet.
she then proceeded to explain to me the rationale behind implementing this rule. apparently, it's so that students won't dress sloppily when going out in the workforce (or something like that). in that case, shouldn't it apply to diploma students only?
night degree students mostly have working experience and know how to dress for work.
dressing in shorts to school doesn't mean we will dress like this to work. unless you tell me you dress formally everywhere (to sleep, to market, to the beach etc) JUST SO you won't dress sloppily for work.
it's a private school.
i understand that students shouldn't dress too sexily. but shorts aren't sexy, hotpants are. spaghetti tops aren't sexy, bikini tops are. slippers aren't sexy, covered boots are. learn the freaking difference between sexy and convenience! -_-
look at this. "tertiary students should have the autonomy to wear what they want. she said: 'the move brings the students back to secondary school days, instead of letting them assume more personal responsibility. it's making the assumption that students can't make a decision on how they dress." NOT said by me.
a simple search brought more of this up: this, this, and this (probably got lots more). and quoting her, "dress code and academics are not related". so true. if students are happy and produce excellent results, who cares what we wear to school? *rofl at self-contradict* there's a reason why NTU/NUS/SMU are more prestigious, and it ain't about the dressing. (even SIM, kaplan, and psb sounds better.)
anyway, i am somewhat upset by this rule, but not THAT upset to blog about it. i can still live with it. but what i'm pissed about is, they had the freaking cheek to call. i think the way they handle criticisms is clearly laugh-able. asking me to delete my comment is just....CHILDISH.
if she had said something like, "we know you're upset but this is the school's policy and the purpose is to discourage sloppiness blah blah blah, hope you understand", i wouldn't have been so pissed.
i know this won't go down well with the school (if they can find my twitter, they probably can find my blog as well). i would have questioned her there and then myself but i was in the middle of my online quiz and have no time to waste. unlike the school, i prefer to spend my time and energy on academics. -_-
this is my way of asking, "is it really necessary, for the rule and more importantly, for asking me to delete the comment?"
p/s. rules are rules, and i will might abide by them. i guess it's somehow my fault for not checking properly (rule was implemented in 2008) cos if i had known earlier, i certainly WON'T choose this school. but it does not mean i'm happy with them and that i cannot express my personal comments about them. period.
p/p/s. if the school asked me to delete my comment, how come they never sue the new paper journalists who wrote the above articles, or the people who made those statements, or request asiaone to remove it from the website? they have more influence than me lor.
p/p/p/s. i deleted the tweet absentmindedly cos i was concentrating on my quiz. i regretted it afterwards cos it made it appear as though i was in the wrong. and hence, this post.
i assume that it is the school's policy to call and ask people to remove their negative comments. but if she's doing it on her own accord (aka geh kiang), then please note my insults are directed to that busybody alone.
incident two
when i first signed the contract with them, i was to study 2 semesters (8 modules) plus 4 internship modules. nearing the end of semester one, i was informed that the school has reconsidered and i don't have to do the 4 internship modules. although by then i had already found out that the school actually anyhow places interns and they seriously have sucky pay (less than 1k?), but still, changing your bloody mind like this is not a professional way to do things cann?!
and the best part? 8 modules and 12 modules cost the same. FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU!! cheat my money lah!! -.-
incident three
there was never a proper hardcopy submission procedure, that even their lecturers are confused.
for semester one, as long as we submitted it online before the due date, we could always submit the hardcopy to the lecturer during the next lesson, even though it's after the due date.
for this semester, we had to submit it to the student service center (SSC) instead. one lecturer said submit to him at the next lesson (after due date), one said submit to SSC as soon as possible after submitting it online (can be after due date), one kicked up a fuss because i submitted it to SSC after the due date (due on fri, i submitted it the next mon).
this is really, really lame. how many years has the school been around? you can't even make up your mind how students should submit their reports? *shakes head*
... ...
after all this, i don't regret my decision to study, but i DO, DEFINITELY regret choosing this school now. fml that only they had the course i wanted.
was browsing through my camera roll when i saw these random photos i had taken during my paternal grandfather's 90th birthday last friday. dinner was at pin si kitchen, yishun safra country club. i think "麻雀雖小, 五臟俱全" can be used to describe it. lols. the food was good too; only a couple of dishes i couldn't eat. i especially liked the hei zhor and fried tofu. =)
i usually don't bother blogging (or photographing) about gatherings with this side of the family, but i thought this was special. it's not everyday a relative turns 90, isn't it? besides, i kinda have a soft spot for the elderly, perhaps because i was brought up by my maternal grandparents.
which is also why i have no qualms about giving up a seat to an elderly, but tend to curse and swear when i HAVE TO give it up to someone pregnant. i mean, growing old is a process everyone has to go through; it's not like they chose it. but pregnancy, is self-inflicted. i wish pregnant people would stop expecting everyone else to give in to them. it's like, you got yourself pregnant, you bear with it yourself (or take it out on the one who made you pregnant). serves you right! why should i give up my seat to you? -_-
i don't hate all pregnant people; just the ones that irritate me. a gracious society isn't just about educating people on giving up seats to people in need. the people in need should also be educated that others are not obliged to give up their seats, so quit expecting us to do so. and BE THANKFUL when someone does. zzZz.
lol i bet you guys are screaming "next time when you pregnant then you know!" at me, and i'll probably regret saying this (if i'm unlucky enough to get pregnant). but since now i'm not, here's one more argument - mankind is overpopulated. =D
anyway, i digressed so much. just wanted to vent some of the leftover frustration (from class) but i guess it got out of hand. oops! the main point is, it's kinda disheartening to see ah gong's health deteriorating. my dad once told me stuff ah gong said about me. which touched me, because ah gong has so many grandchildren and i'm one of the most invisible ones and yet, he never made me feel left out. *wipes tear from eye*
dear ah gong, may you continue to live happily and healthily (don't deteriorate anymore) for many many more years!
i so should be working on the VCA report, due on sunday. but i'm so sick of doing this alone (again), so i'm gonna blog! rofl. and work on my other reports maybe. tonight.
anyway, i'm sure you guys have heard about the news about westlife breaking up after 14 years (1998-2012). was so sad when i saw it. not the dramatic world-came-crashing-down kind of sad; it's the dull, silent, depressing kind of sadness you get when you realize something you've grown up with is going to disappear soon and you're not sure how your future will be like without it.
lol so dreary. and why so? SSD's fault. cos he bought me their latest and probably last CD...
...to add to my collection of 10 albums...
...and 2 special singles...
...and 2 greatest hits...
...and 4 concert dvds!
there's one more which i really wanted - the westlife story vcd. probably out in 2000 or so. saw it once at a cd store in malaysia, didn't buy it, can't find it in singapore anymore, and regretting it since then. i know someone who has it, but she won't sell me. maybe i'll go beg her again. lols.
of course, it's nothing compared to hard-core westlife fans, especially those living near them. cos their singles don't usually come all the way to singapore. *sad face*
my obsessioninfatuation liking for westlife didn't span 14 years. one fine day, i heard the song 'my love', went to buy the album, liked it, and have been buying their albums since then. 'my love' is from their second album, out in 2000. so it's only been 11 years since my love affair with them begun.
as with any young, innocent fangirl, i started out not only by memorizing their songs, but also checking on their biography (where they live, what schools they went to, who are their partners etc etc). i loved writing/reading westlife fanfics too! *laughs at old self*
don't worry, i'm past that looks stage now. i've learnt to appreciate the songs, the meanings behind them, and most importantly, their voices. kian's is the normal boyish one, nicky's is the husky one, shane is first lead, his is smooth. and mark's, special. if you've listened to their songs, you must have noticed how one voice in particular stands out from the rest. that's his. :P
westlife music has grown over the years too. it used to be about everlasting love, now it's about home and family. and responsibility (all are married now) is what they're citing for the split. as much as i hate to admit it, it's a reasonable reason. and, not like we can do anything about it. sighh. they're like, one of the most successful boybands ever and all are so talented. what a pity. *shakes head*
so. they have a final series of farewell concerts next year in june, and that's the end. :( lol i'm starting to feel all empty inside already. boo.
p/s. was looking through youtube for unreleased westlife songs and look what i've found!
it's by shane unfortunately (i wanted mark), but such a lovely song. it shall replace shania twain's from this moment as my no.1 wedding song, cos like almost every wedding i go also will play. tsk! if you intend to play this song at your wedding, please don't invite me. cos i will curse and swear inside for copying me. lol.
... ...
by the way, SSD bought me a rilakkuma ear plug cover too!
bed! creamy pasta tomorrow for lunch! sushi for dinner! *excited*
so, my birthday this year is over and done with. blogging barely an hour after midnight just shows how pathetic my birthday is this year - nua at home the whole morning/afternoon and then head down to school. by the way, class today was fun though. then SSD showed up outside school. he kinda made it obvious he would be coming, so...not surprised. LOL. can't go anywhere else but home because he wants to go back and download movies while i have class again tomorrow. so yeah, pathetic right? :|
it seems that as i get older, my life gets more boring. no more skipping school and hanging out at macdonalds. no more pubbing and going crazy. no more bbqs and gatherings. so boring!! :(
anyway, SSD bought me an anklet. pretty little dolphins! and noisy bell. no more sneaking up and scaring people now, cos i'm so 'noisy'. lols.
have been wanting one for ages but putting off buying mainly because i've lost all my previous ones. they break and drop off and go missing so easily. let's hope i don't lose this one.
on a side note, SSD has given me a complete set of jewellery now - earrings, necklace, bracelet, ring and now, anklet. i have so many other jewellery not worn for the last 2 years because i don't want to remove what he has given. maybe i'll donate them to flea markets. *shrugs*
was playing emergency 4 last night. luckily i don't have the ambition to become police/doctor/firefighter. otherwise i think i'll burn a lot of buildings and kill a lot of people. rofl. :?
then, i had this crazy thought last night this morning if we were gonna see dandelions in taiwan. and this last verse of a particular song kept playing in my head, so i decided to search for it. (at 5am lol!) and i found it! :P
nice right? it's from 1995's 陽光列車II. (i used to like 陳漢偉 because of his 關懷方式 song. lol.) i remember our class, or a group of us, sang it for a teachers' day celebration in primary school. we sang another song too. :|
i should be working on my sales report but i'm simply not in the mood to do so. and when i'm not in the mood, nothing comes out no matter how hard i try. but i guess i need to start soon. maybe, sunday? since i'll be out saturday as well. :|
anyways, just came back some time ago from late night movie with SSD. don't you love free tickets?
have been wanting to watch this ever since it came out. anything animal is good. :P
and the animals are so funny! like the crow that isn't a zoo animal. oh, and griffin peeing on the poor wolf. that one was super funny! its expression after that was...priceless! rofl. and many many more. no regrets watching it!=)
... ...
met up with the ex-colleagues for dinner at suki nihon mura. waiting time was around an hour. terrible!
we all had the buffet and it was madness. total food ordered was like, 2-3 times what you see up there. i think it was because majority of the tables were having buffet as well and we thought they mixed up / left out our orders. so we ordered again and in the end they came twice.
so funny when i was picking the pickles off the bacon asparagus, and PL was like, "can you please eat the main dish instead of the garnish?" rofl. was super duper full. such a long time since i felt like that. 我知錯了! 下次不敢了!
it's been ages since i last laughed and crapped and went crazy with them. miss those good old days. gonna meet one more time next month (hopefully) before 親愛的 leaves. she resigned by the way. RT is mad f-ed up. lols. it's a pity i won't be able to attend 媽's wedding dinner in october and meet up with the rest of them again. argghh!
crazy camwhoring while waiting for the lift. and all of them turned out blur. :-?
... ...
speaking of 媽's wedding dinner, it irks me so badly that i have to skip it because a cousin's wedding dinner is on the same day. and what irks me further is that it's a shotgun wedding.
i'm the kind (the kind that hates kids) who'll rather get rid of the baby rather than to spoil the meaning of a wedding in this manner. (yes hate me.)
weddings are like, special and so meaningful. especially the exchange of vows and rings and the wedding gown! (why should the gown be compromised because of a baby bump?) the whole thing represents a couple's commitment and promise to each other. special thoughts and effort should be put into planning such a magical event.
doing it in a rush and for any reason other than love and commitment to each other is just insulting the meaning of weddings. and i don't really like being part something like that. :x
oh wells, i'm weird. too bad no one thinks like that anymore nowadays.
and to cheer you up, let me share something i came across on someone's blog.
20 strange sex laws
there are men in guam whose full-time job is to travel the countryside and deflower young virgins, who pay them for the privilege of having sex for the first time. reason: under guam law, it is expressly forbidden for virgins to marry.
most middle eastern countries recognize the following islamic law: after having sexual relations with a lamb, it is a mortal sin to eat its flesh.
in lebanon, men are legally allowed to have sex with animals, but the animals must be female. having sexual relations with a male animal is punishable by death.
anywhere in the US, it's illegal to use any live endangered species, except insects, in public or private sexual displays, shows or exhibits depicting cross-species sex.
in bahrain, a male doctor may legally examine a woman's genitals, but it is forbidden from looking directly at them during the examination. he may only see their reflection in a mirror.
in hong kong, a betrayed wife is legally allowed to kill her adulterous husband, but may only do so with her bare hands. (the husband's lover, on the other hand, may be killed in any manner desired.)
in santa cruz, bolivia, it is illegal for a man to have sex with a woman and her daughter at the same time.
in the state of washington, there is a law against having sex with a virgin under any circumstances including the wedding night.
in cali, columbia, a woman may only have sex with her husband, and the first time this happens, her mother must be in the room to witness the act.

it's illegal to have sex without a condom in nevada.
it's illegal for any member of the nevada legislature to conduct official business wearing a penis costume while the legislature is in session.
in arizona, florida, idaho, indiana, massachusetts, mississippi, nebraska, nevada, new york, ohio, oklahoma, oregon, south dakota, tennessee, utah, vermont, washington, and wisconsin, an erection that shows through a man's clothing is illegal.
no man is allowed to make love to his wife with the smell of garlic, onions, or sardines on his breath in alexandria, minnesota. if his wife requests so, law mandates that he must brush his teeth.
in minnesota, it is illegal for any man to have sexual intercourse with a live fish. (apparently is it okay for woman.)
muslims are banned from looking at the genitals of a corpse. this also applies to undertakers; the sex organ of the deceased must be covered with a brick or piece of wood at all times.
an ordinance in newcastle, wyoming, specifically bans couples from having sex while standing inside a store's walk-in meat freezer.
the penalty for masturbation in indonesia is decapitation.
in hotels in sioux falls, south dakota, every room is required to have twin beds. and the beds must always be a minimum of 2 feet apart when a couple rents a room for only one night. and it's illegal to make love on the floor between the beds.
now, aren't you happy we don't have such laws in singapore? :P

also came across another blog (yes i like to blog-hop!) of someone who had just quit her job, and is basically just taking a break.
she mentions that it's not hard to type the resignation letter. life is more than just working your ass off. people just have to stop in the rat race and pursue what they really want. life is short. *plays if tomorrow never comes by ronan keating*
somewhat true. but while it comforts me to know that i'm not the only one slacking at home, i still miss spending my own money. sobs.
guess what happened to me just now?! as i was closing the door to have a bath, some movement on the top wall caught my eye, and i looked up in time to see a baby lizard falling on me. i would certainly have screamed if it were one of those nasty cockroaches. but in this case, all i could think of was how cute the baby looked as i shook it off and it scurried away. =)

attended a relative's wedding dinner at orchard hotel last night.
dinner wasn't as bad as i had expected. we had a table to ourselves, and SSD came along too. not to mention the free flow of red wine. lols. the food was not bad too.
the bride was beautiful too. though it doesn't really matter much to me cos i haven't seen her before. they're just one of those meet-once-a-year relatives you see.
it was when i came home and happened to see 妈's raw wedding shots on facebook. now i really believe it when they say "a woman is at her most beautiful when she's in her wedding dress". i'm not saying 妈 isn't normally pretty, but it's a totally different kind of beautiful i saw in those photos. sighh.
off to maple. at least, i'm ALREADY married over there. -_-
1. those are wild dogs (basic instinct much?). 2. toddler wandered off by herself. 3. toddler intruded the dogs' territory. 4. toddler's family didn't keep watch over toddler.
so in what way is it the dogs' fault? why are the dogs blamed? why are they being put down for nothing? and in the same report, where one 9-year-old was killed, a further >2 dozen dogs were put down. fair much? this world is weird...

this morning my dad asked me to buy some discs as he wanted to haolian make use of his blue-ray dvd player. i immediately thought of 2012. i had watched it again during my trip to genting last month.
it never fails to evoke strong emotions each time. the scenes are so real and i feel it's actually starting to happen already. the earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, erupting volcanos, all just a coincidence? bit by bit, area by area, it's gonna hit everyone of us sooner or later.
frankly speaking, i'd rather die quickly like in the show. it's much more painful to have survived and realize you're left with no family, no home, no food, no shelter, no nothing.
if 2012 really happened, i wonder what mother nature has planned for this earth. today, we dig up fossils of dinosaurs that were wiped out millions of years ago. and probably millions of years later, some other thingy would be digging up OUR fossils to study. you know, like a computer? when problems get too much, it's easier to just reformat the whole damn thing.
e.m. (edward morgan) forster contributed to my depressing end-of-the-world mood of late. (sidetrack: i had finally found his ebook The Machine Stops online to download for froggie. yes the same one we studied for o'levels.)
the story tells of a futuristic world where all of us live in individual cells. each cell has automated stuff for our needs like air, food, water, sleep, personal hygiene etc etc. there's even a network system to connect us to one another, anywhere in the world. you'd never believe that this was written in 1909, almost 50 years before there was internet.
anyway, all the cells are part of a huge underground machine. people rarely travel around and the land above has become barren and inhabitable. even the air is poisonous. so dependent have we become on the machine, that at the end when it breaks down, mankind is wiped out.
