Jai Thai - wallet friendly authentic Thai cuisine

So I met zhu yesterday to collect the Laneige mask that I 'ordered' and she gave me so many noms from Korea! I on diet leh! Lol. Just kidding. Thanks babe. <3<3<3

We had lunch at this thai place that she wanted to try - Jai Thai, or Jai Siam. It claims to be wallet friendly and looking at the menu, the dishes does seem to be quite affordable. Everything looked so good we couldn't decide what to order lol.

In the end we both got the individual sets - me olive rice and she pineapple.

The olive rice pales in comparison to my own. The veggies, fried fish, and mango salad were nice, but normal. But the green curry! It's so super duper yummy!! Fragrant, creamy, not too spicy. What else can I say? Please please please order the green curry when you're there!

Zhu says the pineapple rice and pandan chicken is nice. I think her set is more worth it since there's more meat. Both sets cost only $8.80 each! ^^

We also ordered a veggie omelet to share. There's something special about this omelet that sets it apart from the rest. I think there seems to be a home-cooked taste about it. A little expensive at $5 but very nice!

The individual sets came with drinks and dessert. We upgraded the drinks to the Thai ice milk tea (+$1.50) which was also simple and nice! The dessert, on the other hand, was....very homely. Lol.

Definitely gonna drop by again. I want to try their tomyum soup! And green curry again! And everything else! XD

Then met SSD and headed off to vivocity. Walked around aimlessly. Dropped by the handphone shops to check out our next phones. Can't decide between note 3 or z ultra. Boo.

Dinner was at Breeks. Menu was a little disappointing though. Ice latte and mushroom soup for starters, brownie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Soup and brownie would have been nice hot. =\

SSD's seafood marinara ($15.90). Pasta portion was HUGE.

My baked dory with mushroom cream sauce ($14.90). Fish was a little salty, but I love the mushroom sauce!

Fun and enjoyable eating day. Back to dieting.

Who Are You, The Master's Sun? =P

Today's post is actually to share the two korean dramas I'm recently watching.

Who Are You (16 episodes)

Storyline: Female detective Yang Si Ohn (YSO) wakes up after an accident on the job left her in a coma for 6 years. Momentarily losing her memory, she also realizes she has gained the ability to see ghosts. They ask for help, she helps them. Until she sees her boyfriend's ghost. Her memories slowly come back, and she realizes there's more to the accident back then, where the boyfriend was shot and she herself knocked into a coma. After that the story revolves around YSO trying to find out what exactly happened, with the help of her subordinate Cha Gun Woo (CGW), who happens to also fall in love with her.

Complicated storyline. What made it better, was eye candy! Lol. It just finished airing a couple of days ago, and the ending was weird. Apparently, while CGW was injured into a coma saving her, he also gained the ability to communicate with ghosts. Just that they appear in his dreams instead. I was...a tiny bit disappointed I guess.

I read some comments that there was a similar drama which was much much better than this. I was thinking, "this is so good already. How can there be one better?" And since I didn't have anything to do, I gave it a shot.

The Master's Sun (16 episodes, might increase)

Storyline: Tae Yang (TY) has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts ever since her accident which left her in a coma for several years. They appear randomly and scare her, sometimes asking her for help. As a result, TY has been unable to sleep well nor hold a job for long. Until she meets CEO Joo Joong Won (JJW). She realizes that whenever he touches her, the ghosts disappear. She then tries to hold on to her 'safety shelter'.

JJW keeps TY nearby as he hopes she can communicate with his dead ex and find out where she kept the ransom. (He was involved in a kidnapping and the ex was one of the kidnappers.) Slowly he falls in love with TY.

I'm at episode 12 now, where he got stabbed when trying to save her, and appears to her in the form of a non-human. I'm really hoping he's not dead. *cross fingers* (Why do they do that anyway? Isn't it easier and safer to just push the attacker away?)

This drama doesn't really have eye candy, but it's true. It IS better than Who Are You. For one, the ghosts are scarier. I totally got a shock the first time. It's also more interesting since there's a different 'story' with each ghost, while still revolving around the two main leads. And that love story is to-die-for! Why does it only happen in dramas? :(

Oh wells. Can't wait for the next episode. Do check them out if you have the time. ^^

My $7 pizzahut meal

I haven't really been blogging a lot about food have I? So here's a short one. Dinner yesterday was at pizzahut, to satisfy my pasta craving.

Creamy mushroom linguine and seafood tofu salad for me! I piled like, 3 tablespoons of cheese and 1 tablespoon of tabasco sauce on it. It was a recent discovery that tabasco goes very well with creamy pasta. I get this craving ALL the time. Salad was normal though. My favorite salad is still from MFM. Probably it's the balsamic sauce that I'm hooked on.

Ocean catch pizza and drumlets for SSD. Ordered this lychee green tea to share and it was horrible. Sweet + sweet = ewwww! We could have gotten a soup and a safer drink for the same price. :(

BUT! We paid less than $7 for all these. Because apart from the 10% discount from Stand Chart, we still had the NS vouchers. ^^v

Looking forward to my buffet this month! My last gorge before starving myself in October.

A conversation with Popo.

This cracks me up. I can almost imagine a conversation with her.

"Look at my butt. My perky butt."
"You look fat."
"No, it's perky."
"Fat ass."
"Perky!"
"Fat!"
"Is not!"
"Yes it is!"
"I'm fluffy!"
"... ..."
"Hah!"
"Whatever."

Riiiiiight. I might just take up the animal communicator course, if only I have the spare cash. :( Anyway she IS fluffy. Especially with the fan blowing directly at her and ruffling her fur. But her butt does look exceptionally huge here. LOL.
